“Blaggedde zum vrchaufe!” - This cry is as much a part of Basel Fasnacht as the badges themselves. But before these coveted pieces in gold, silver or bronze can shine on jackets and bags, they undergo an elaborate finishing process.
Our specialists have been working since November to give the raw materials supplied their characteristic shine. The technically demanding process involves several steps: First, the plaques are carefully attached to hanging constructions to ensure even treatment. This is followed by several passes in the electroplating baths until the desired metal thickness is achieved. After a final rinse and a thorough quality check, the plaques are ready for the “drey scheenschte Dääg”.
